When we bought this property there was an old farmhouse up close to the road. We tried to restore the house, but after several years we cut our losses and tore it down. Before doing so we took measurements and photographs of the original house because this corner shares two other old houses and the replacement house had to look like it belonged. We moved the footprint back from the road and rotated it 45 degrees so it looks at the corner, not the road.

The new house has a two story section that is very close in shape and size to the original. The wing off the back of the house holds a big surprise. This is the “Great Room” which includes the kitchen, dining and living room area. Off the Great Room is a mahogany deck that is mostly shaded in the summer. The deck features built in seating and an inconspicuous wheel chair ramp.

The Great Room has a large HDTV and a gas fireplace. The entire main floor is heated by radiant heat under the bamboo floor. Very comfortable for bare feet. Indirect lighting and a huge skylight make this room ”Great.”

Off the great room is the den. This is a place where the kids can hang out with another HDTV and DVD player. This room has a half bath and the couch pulls out to a queen size bed.

Keep going past the front door and you enter the master suite. We built this room with many features to accommodate someone in a wheel chair. The suite has a small kitchen that is friendly to a wheel chair, but very usable for standing guests as well. The large bath for the suite has a roll –in shower and room to move around in a wheel chair. The suite also has a door which opens onto the deck.

Moving upstairs, you will notice the stairwell is lighted by a skylight atop the curved ceiling over the stairs. To the right is the bigger of the two bedrooms upstairs. This room has Douglas fir floors, a full bath lighted with a skylight, ceramic tile tub and shower. The queen size bed is heavenly. There is a ceiling fan and AC for hot summer nights.

Across the hall is another bedroom, similar, but a little smaller. The room also has a private bath with tiled shower and skylight, another heavenly queen size bed, ceiling fan and AC.

This house was custom built by the owner who is a contractor and has built vacation homes for over 35 years. We know that you will want to return for years to come!
